Did Mel Gibson did that in purpose????

I was watchinng Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ", did anyone noticed when Jesus was on the cross and they flipped him over, he was above the ground and all the blood was dripping from his body and in the background you could clearly see Mary Magdalene ( Monica Belucci) crying, it seemed though that his blood was going through her body. Was that done intentially by Mel Gibson???

I am sure Mr. Gibson intended a lot of symbolism in his film. I'd be curious what he makes of The Da Vinci Code debate. Any thoughts?
